I really don’t think that it’s far off to suggest that a green smoothie diet may offer practically everything that your body needs to be healthy. Shy of just Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, in my opinion, these beverages have everything (yes, protein as well). The trouble I had when I started on green smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. Learn about how I alleviated them.
I wish to start out by telling you that the contents of this article merely my opinion based on the information I have read about natural health and from the 10+ years living and eating the way I have daily. Also, with my blood work done twice each year which shows zero deficiencies, I feel this information is very valuable. Possible it works just for me, my genetics and body type, I can’t say for sure. However, just like smoking tobacco will certainly affect each of us with various degrees of health negatives, eating green smoothies, I believe, will certainly affect each of us with various degrees of health positives. Try it for yourself, after you speak with your natural, or other, health practitioner first of course.
The body is supposed to be equipped to heal naturally right? If that’s the case, why are people sick? Perhaps that statement is wrong and the body can’t heal itself naturally? No! The problem is that people today a) don’t supply it with the proper amount of tools, usually in terms of food intake, it requires to become whole again and b) we attack it with crap that hinders the function of the limited number of essential resources that we do supply it.
I’m a huge admirer of raw foods. To say that adding heat to foods above a certain temperature destroying much needed enzymes that are important for assimilation makes plenty of sense to me. Further, it is suggested that to get the most out of our foods we should chew it until it’s gone. Our body has troubles digesting big chunks of food. Also, I really feel that men women and children can thrive off of a diet of chiefly fruits and green vegetables, with of course some healthy fats. For the healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I eat.
The main meals I consume every single day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and greens in the form of green smoothies. Being mostly liquid, my body has no issues assimilating the nutrients.
A huge hurdle for a lot of people when switching diets, and a huge one for me is coping with cravings for unhealthy foods. Like a person that is addicted to alcohol or drugs must go through a detox in order to heal, we essentially must to do the same thing. The cells in our body are made up of stuff from the food that we have ingested in the past. The body usually craves more of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the makings of each of the sick cells in our body. With a drug detox, often, sauna therapy is used to removes the drugs through perspiration. That generally helps eliminate the physical cravings for the drug which could allow the person a better chance of remaining sober. For us, adjusting our eating habits will probably trigger the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be naturally removed in stool, perspiration and our pee. However, we still might having cravings for those foods while some of the toxins in our cells are still present.
I, myself, have found that quickly after having the first drink of my smoothie my cravings for sugar, salt, meat, grease, etc began to decrease. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings were gone completely and I’d be content. The problem then was that the unhealthy cravings would return as I grew hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another smoothie ready before the cravings would reoccur, or not too long after they began. The unhealthy cravings ultimately subsided for good as I became healthier. After that I started to crave greens instead!
The question I have now is, do you plan to stay unhealthy and overweight or do you want to start thinking about a better diet providing your body all the proper nutrition?
